Facing an aging infrastructure, the Federal Railroad Administration funded an engineering and environmental study to evaluate alternatives to the 140+ year-old Amtrak tunnel traveling beneath central and western Baltimore City, MD.
Assedo Consulting led the environmental review process on behalf of the Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BC DOT), providing input to the team as the alternatives were shared for the draft and final Environmental Impact Statements (EIS). Engaging the diverse communities in Baltimore to understand the project and its potential impacts was a priority for the team. Assedo Consulting crafted and implemented an outreach plan to identify potentially impacted communities, educate stakeholders about the project information and solicit feedback on the alternatives, their environmental impact, and solutions to mitigating changes on the community.
